Dr. Amit N. Thakker is the Chairman of the Africa Healthcare Federation, Chairman of Africa Health Business Ltd., Director of the East Africa Healthcare Federation, Chairman of the Kenya Healthcare Federation and the founder of Avenue Healthcare, based in Kenya. With over 20 years of experience in operations and change management within cultural contexts of challenging economies, Dr. Thakker has successfully spearheaded the establishment of medical and primary health organizations in various developing countries including Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Nigeria, Tanzania and Kenya. An accomplished champion in healthcare management, he is well recognized for his integrative approach in providing innovative and bold business cross cutting solutions in the health services and financing sectors within Africa.
Dr. Kibachio Joseph Mwangi
Head, Division of non-communicable diseases @Ministry of Health-Kenya
Dr. Kibachio Mwangi is the head of the Division of Non Communicable diseases in the Ministry of Health in Kenya and is responsible for public health policy on NCDs and their determinants. He is a medical doctor with vast public health expertise. He has specialty in NCD epidemiology, programming and policy issues in resource limited settings and is part of the WHO global coordination mechanism expert Working Group 3.1 working on the inclusion of NCDs into other public health programs. Dr. Kibachio was awarded by the UN Interagency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (UNIATF) in recognition for outstanding contribution towards the NCD related Sustainable Development Goals at the Third High-level Meeting on NCDs at the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2018.
Faith Muigai
Regional Director for the SafeCare Program @PharmAccess Foundation
Faith Muigai’s professional background stems over 20 years of local and international health experience in both public and private sectors. She currently is the Regional Director for the SafeCare Program with PharmAccess Foundation; an international recognition program amplifying quality and excellence in health service delivery. She served as Chief Medical Officer for Jacaranda Health, a scaling organization, whose mission is to provide high quality, affordable Maternal and Child Health services in Kenya. Her leadership contributed to achieving SafeCare Level 5-the first health facility in East Africa and third in Africa to attain this level of certification. Previous roles have included frontline health service delivery, clinical research, program development and executive management in leading health institutions (Johns Hopkins Hospital and University Specialty Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Maryland Medical Systems and LifeBridge Health).
