Building Climate Resilient Health systems through community-based health interventions in Africa
This webinar is going to be a COP26 virtual side event that will highlight the importance of climate action in regard to access to water, sanitation and hygiene. This side event is going to be used as a platform by Amref, to discuss what is needed to support frontline health care workers to combat climate change. It is going to be a panel discussion among key leaders in the health space including: Dr Githinji Gitahi (Group CEO, Amref Health Africa), Catarina de Albuquerque (CEO, Sanitation and Water for All), Matshidiso Moeti (WHO Regional Director for Africa, and Barbara Merz (Managing Director of Empowering Funds – Pathfinder International). The event is going to be moderated by Elizabeth (Lizz) Ntonjira, the Global Director of Communications at Amref Health Africa.

 To help people understand what climate change is and its effects on the health system especially at the basic level
 To demonstrate and appreciate the role of frontline health care workers in combating the effects of climate change
 To rally stakeholders and partners to make commitment to key actions that address climate change and s build climate resilient health systems
 To provide a platform to hear first-hand experience from a Kenyan community health worker on how climate change has affected them, and what can be done to empower them in their health work
